Why we only work in linen
Flax is one of the oldest fibres there is. It grows with little water, needs no irrigation in the fields we buy from, and turns into a cloth that keeps you cool in a 40° June and lasts long enough to hand down.
- Breathes
- Hollow fibres pull heat and moisture away from the skin.
- Softens
- Every wash relaxes the weave. Year three is the best year.
- Lasts
- Linen is roughly twice as strong as cotton, wet or dry.

I bought the Sahil shirt in March and wore it through an entire Chennai summer. It is softer now than the day it arrived.
The natural flax is the nicest dress-weight linen I have sewn with. I pre-washed two metres and barely lost anything to shrinkage.
Ordered the Haveli maxi for my sister’s mehendi and ended up ordering one for my mother too. The fabric feels expensive in the best way.
